Happy Tuesday to ya! I can’t believe it has been a month since my last post, but I have been super duper busy lately. My bestie got married this past weekend, and Breezy and I were both in the wedding. And I’m just now realizing I am going to hate typing this post with these Theresa Caputo long, acrylic nails I got for the wedding. Anyhoo…..
In our world of food allergies, I was extremely pleased with how the wedding turned out. My bestie loves Breezy like her own, and was going to do whatever she could to make sure she was safe. There shall be no anaphylaxis on wedding day! Or ever (Lord, hear my prayer!) And there wasn’t, but there was some nausea, not allergy related. That’s another story. Bestie made sure there was not any candy at her candy bar that contained peanuts or peanut butter, and I owe the groom and his mother some Reese’s and peanut M&M’s for allowing that. The DELICIOUS food was BBQ style , and this is where I’m thankful that Breezy is picky. She doesn’t like any type of BBQ anything. We always stick to our rule: no label, not eat, so she knew she couldn’t have any, but she could care less since the hubby got her a happy meal instead. The cake was back in a corner away from everything, so I don’t even know if Breezy knew there was one there or not, but she was too busy dancing to notice. Everything went smoothly, Breezy was safe, and my bestie was the most beautiful bride I had ever seen.
Preschool has also kept us busy, along with all of the germs that come with it. Breezy contracted her first, nasty cold from school last week. Luckily, it didn’t stick around too long. She is loving playing with her new friends, and can’t wait to tell me all the things she did that day when she gets home. Let’s hope she stays in that habit for years to come. As far as her food allergies go, we’ve had no issues with school so far. Thank you, Jesus!
And now for something you may not know. On Halloween of last year, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in my esophagus and stomach, which is rare since Crohn’s is something that usually occurs in the intestines. I was told my only options were biologics, but I was stubborn and was determined to cure myself. I did not want to be on any medication whatsoever, and I haven’t been for the past year. A liquid diet did the trick for a while, and would help with the stabbing pain, but I’m at the point now nothing helps. No liquid diet, low fat, gluten free, dairy free, nothing is helping. It doesn’t matter if it’s a sip of water or a big mac. It all hurts. So, I made the very tough call of starting an immunosuppressant. Tough, because this will strongly delay, or even eliminate the possibility of giving Breezy a most deserved younger sibling, that is already long overdue. But, for now, this is what has to be. Breezy needs a momma that is fighting the world on her behalf, and not being defeated by her own immune system. That, and if I choose not to my doctor says there is a high probability that he would have to remove part of my stomach. We can’t have that! Now, enough of my pity party…….
Stay tuned for m next post! I’m working on something real nice! Happy Tuesday! =)
